It is in everyone's best interests to adhere to road rules to ensure the safety of our children. We have been advised recently of some unsafe driver behaviour and we would like to remind everyone of the following:
At the crossing:
- If travelling north, do not pull into the bus lane on the school side of the road before turning right into the school driveway
- If travelling south, with the intention of turning left into the school driveway, please don't stop on Main Road (unless stopped at the crossing), as this holds up traffic. Drive down to a safe spot and turn around.
- Perhaps plan to not arrive until 3:20pm - there is a supervising teacher at the front steps until 3:30pm.
Two other points to remember:
- Parents can park at Frank Smith Park and walk across the oval - use Magarey Road to get there. Parents can access the school via Trevilyan Court also, via Turners Ave and The Knoll Crescent.
- Do not park next to the church - this damages the foundations and may result in the church revoking rights to park there at all.
KID BIZ YEAR 5/6 PARENT SESSION
Thank you for so much interest in this session, we had an amazing response.
We have been lucky enough to secure a presenter, Wendy Hill for:

https://coromandps.schoolzineplus.com/form/19
Finally please find a reading list attached of relevent books for this program.
Earlier in the term, an open invitation was sent to families to take part in the Parent Consultation Committee. We once again extend this invitation to parents, with our first meeting to be held on Tuesday March 29 (Week 9) at 2:30pm. During this time, there will be an opportunity to meet with other parents and discuss thoughts and perspectives about key school initiatives.
The meeting will be held at school, but there is also a possibility of joining online. If you are intending to come to the meeting, please RSVP via the following link:

School sports are a great way for your child to learn new skills and be part of a team with their peers. In terms 2 and 3, the winter sports available (from Year 2) for girls and boys are Soccer, AFL Football and Netball.
Below is the link to the online sport nomination form for Out of Hours School Sport for Terms 2 & 3.
https://coromandps.schoolzineplus.com/form/7
Please ensure nominations for all winter sports are received by Tuesday 22nd March. If you have difficulty with the online form, please ask at the front office.
Please also consider volunteering as a team manager or coach. This is a rewarding way to give back to the school community, and school sports rely on parent volunteers to operate.
Our year 3 students had their first basketball game last week and defeated St Johns Grammar 8-4. It was a fast moving game and for many their first ever try at basketball. Great teamwork and sportsmanship was shown by the boys.
Many thanks to Annelies their coach and the parents that put their hand up to help, it was greatly appreciated. Well done Coro!
The SASTA Oliphant Science Awards are held annually in August and involve many scientific disciplines and ways of presenting student understanding and discovery for receptions to year 6.
It is a wonderful opportunity for students, though self-directed learning to further develop critical and creative thinking through exploring and applying their understanding to an area of science they are curious about.
The SASTA Oliphant Science Awards has (and continues to) engage students more deeply in science and supported them to:
- Undertake and report on scientific investigations in real life settings
- Explore their interests, skills, talents and creativity
- Develop their science knowledge and understanding
- Show their work to a broader audience
- Further develop collaborative work practices
- Motivate themselves to conceive and complete an independent project
- Involve themselves in scientific and technological discovery and the application of these processes and knowledge to themselves and their world.
The Oliphant Science Awards website is an excellent resource oliphantscienceawards.com.au and provides all the information required to support students develop a good quality entry. I strongly suggest that you and your child visit the website and in particular the Participant Info – Student Information section.
https://www.oliphantscienceawards.com.au/event_information/award_categories
During Friday lunchtimes in Term 2 I will run a lunchtime club for participants for them to ask questions, seek advice or to work on their entries (individual or group).
There is a fee of $13 for individual entries and $6 per person for group entries and I would need to have a completed entry form by Thursday 14 April 2022. OSA_registration_Form.pdf
Thank you for your support and please contact me if you have any questions.
