After months of lunch time training and playing matches against other schools, our boys’ netball team found themselves one of four remaining teams in the competition - earning the right to defend our double state title in the finals series at Netball SA Stadium.

The series started with the four schools competing in a round robin tournament to decide which two teams would play in the grand final. We lost our first game to Stella Maris 13-16 and knew we had to beat the other two teams to make it. We settled in our second game and beat Pulteney 22-16. In our third game, against Norwood, we were behind at half-time. But thanks to a great second half, we came back to win with a score of 13-10.

We had secured our spot in the grand final but still had to beat a very strong Stella Maris.  The two teams switched leads several times in a thrilling, high-scoring match. We gave it our all but unfortunately in the end we narrowly lost with a score of 23-25.

Our boys should be extremely proud of themselves. They played their best throughout the competition and with good sportsmanship. Although they were understandably disappointed to not take out the title, second-best team in the state is still a great achievement!

A big thanks to the Year 6 girls netball team, who helped with the boys’ training and provided a quality team for the boys to practise against over many lunch times. Thanks also to all the parents who have supported the team at matches. I’m very proud of this group of boys for how hard they’ve worked, their good sportsmanship and what they have achieved.
