CYBER SAFETY SAPOL PARENT SESSION
With each new week come more stories and warnings about online behaviour. You are told about the dangers of excessive screen time, the shady world of chatrooms, spyware in apps aimed at children, and myriad other aspects of the internet that makes your head spin. You may be finding it very difficult to supervise this aspect of your child’s time and like many of us, feel out of your depth in this area. How can you protect your child, from others and themselves, in this ever-changing digital environment?
As educators, we value the incredible resources offered by apps and cyberspace, but we are also aware of the impact on children’s physical and mental health of certain aspects of the internet and social media. To support with understanding we have organised a presentation, specifically aimed at parents. It will be delivered by a parent, who addresses these issues as part of their role as a member of SAPOL. We strongly urge you to attend this event, so you can feel more confident about what you need to be talking to your children about - it’s a whole new aspect of parenting, and every little bit helps.
The parent session will take place at 4pm on Monday 6th September in the school gym. Parents attending must wear a mask and scan in on arrival.
We hope to see as many parents as possible. Due to the current COVID-19 regulations can you please email karen.hayes453@schools.sa.edu.au or call the school on 8278 3693 to register your interest in attending. This event will also be live streamed.
