Coromandel Valley recently took part in the Term 2 Southern Zone Chess Tournament.   57 students took part in the tournament, with Coro fielding the smallest team on the day, with just 5 competitors -  Julian B, Charlie J, Lily Z, Marley T and Thomas M.

However, the team did extremely well and finished in 4th place, just 2.5 points away from a medal position.  We had some excellent individual results, with every one of our players either equalling or beating their previous personal best scores.   Lily was our best competitor on the day finishing in 13th place overall and as the 2^nd placed female, with a score of 4.5  from her 7 games.  Special mention to Marley who was competing in her very first tournament.

The Chess Club continues to meet on Monday lunchtimes, and anyone is welcome to come along and develop their mental muscles. Any age and ability are welcome to attend.
