PYP EXHIBITION
Congratulations to all the Year 5 students and their teachers for a very successful PYP Exhibition on Tuesday 27th November. The opportunity to share their learning with the school community is an important part of the Primary Years Programme. It is a showcase of what these children have collectively learned across the programme during the time at Coromandel Valley Primary School.
Each student chose a significant global issue connected to the transdisciplinary theme “Sharing the Planet.” The central idea was “Decisions and actions contribute to global balance.” Groups of students presented their thinking visually and collaboratively talked about what they had learned during the entire process. Each group designed and developed an interactive component to provoke thinking about their issue with the audience.
When reflecting on their year, students said this was the most significant unit of inquiry as it was about something they learned a lot about and could make a difference to lots of people in our world.
Student action was well represented in each group and we look forward to many of these students continuing to put their ideas into practice at our school as they move into the Middle Years Programme.
