YR3 EL SHADDAI CAMP
During week 1, both year 3 classes visited the El Shaddai Camp Site overnight for our year 3 camp experience. While we were there, we explored concepts surrounding teamwork, problem solving, risk-taking and building resilience. The camp program was excellently delivered by camp facilitators. Both classes actively engaged in all learning activities and represented our school especially well.
Once we arrived, we settled into our cabins and enjoyed lunch before breaking into our activity groups to begin our problem-solving adventure activities including rock climbing, archery, laser skirmish, the giant swing and reptile hold.
When we returned to school, we decided to stretch our thinking and consider the 7 steps to writing success by writing sizzling starts to support our recount writing while reflecting on our amazing camp experinaces.
“Laser skirmish lets go. First we need to put our gear on. Red team was Fletcher, Ollie, Ethan and Micheal. Blue team was Ella, Mia, Tyler and myself. Two minutes later, pew pew! OH no! My team mate just got deactivated. But my team wins because we work as a team.”
Harry
“I was boiling hot waiting for the instructor to say ‘GO’ for the laser skirmish battle. But instead she said goggles! Out of the confusion, I tripped and fell over my gun and onto the dusty sand.”
Joel
“Pow! Guns firing at the speed of light as I duck behind a wall of tires. People shooting everywhere and everyone getting tagged in laser skirmish.”
Oliver
“I woke up smelling the fresh air and I hear my dorm friends singing Go Daddy Go! Miss Magarey comes in and asking who is singing?”
Tia
“Ahhhhh sooo hot….! ‘You’re tagged’ Ahhhhh! I’ve got to get out of here and take cover!”
Lotti
“I jump out of bed and wake up with all my friends by pulling the string to turn on our heater!”
