YR5 ILLAWONGA CAMP
The drive to camp was long and tiring. We finally got there after a 2 ½ hour drive. A big green shed came to view and a burst of excitement washed over our bus with happiness. Finally, we unloaded the bus and walked excitedly into the mess hall, ready for tacos. We learned all the rules of the camp and what we can’t do and what we can do. Once our appetites were no longer, we picked up all our bags and dumped them in our cabins/dorms. Then we had some free time to check out the campsite and catch up from the 2 hour trip.
Once the loud, piercing whistle blew we got organised into our groups for the first activity! Ours was caving. Some parts were low and we had to duck or crawl, some parts were high and we could stand freely. On the way back the instructor made us crawl through tiny holes, when we finally got out we took a breath of fresh air. On the boat ride back we had a trivia on what he told us on the way there, it was so fun. But the walk back up the big hill was a bit exhausting. Finally the most fun activity of them all, gym. We played hide and seek in the foam pit, I got a little bit of foam in my eye but it’s all worth not to get found!
