We did it! Our boys netball team are the 2020 State Champions!

And they did it in style at Priceline Stadium.

The finals series started with the top four South Australian schools competing in a round robin tournament to decide which two teams would play in the grand final.

We won our first games comfortably, defeating Linden Park 23 – 6 and Greenwith 21 – 11. Our third match was against St Francis de Sales and we were really tested for the first time in the entire competition. We trailed for the whole match and went into the last quarter five goals down. After the first two wins, the boys were already guaranteed a place in the grand final but wanted to go into it undefeated. They dug deep and pulled off an inspirational final quarter, stealing victory on the final siren: 19 – 18.

The grand final was a replay of the last match, against St Francis de Sales. The two teams went goal-for-goal and at half-time we were one goal up. After the break the boys came out and played their brilliant best. They piled on the goals and went into the last break seven goals up. In the final quarter they came out and showed why they deserved to be crowned State Champions, finishing off their opponents with a ten-goal victory; the final score 26 – 16.

A big thanks to all of the parents who have supported the team throughout the competition and to Miss Bullitis, who has been assisting me with the coaching. Needless to say, I’m very proud of this team for how hard they’ve worked, their good sportsmanship and what they have achieved. Well done champs!
