Volunteer Awards 2024

Our school community is so lucky to be full of amazing volunteers, parents, carers, grandparents, coaches, teachers and students. Each year we do a call out for those who have gone above and beyond to help the school community, and provide recognition and a small token of thanks. The well deserved winners for this year are:

Winners

Kate Merritt/ Nikki Maas

Kate and Nikki have been joint coordinators for soccer for several years. With over 80 students participating in soccer, from Years 1 - 6, Kate and Nikki have gone above and beyond ensuring that all students have been able to participate. From spending Friday nights repainting lines on the Frank Smith pitches, to undertaking extensive stock takes on uniforms and ensuring that sizes are available, Kate and Nikki have done it all. 

Janita Bentley

With over 60 players from Years 2 - 6, this year, Janita has passionately advocated for netball at Coro. Whether it's coordinating practice times, ensuring that there are umpires for matches, or liaising with the netball association, Janita has worked so that our students can get out on the court and play. Done on a solo basis, a mammoth task coordinating teams, players, uniforms, fixtures, umpires and end of season awards.  The children at Coro should be very thankful to Janita, the coaches and team managers putting their hands up to help facilitate the sport, to which none of it would happen if they didn’t.

Thank you also to the other volunteers who were nominated, and any others who work tirelessly behind the scenes.

Thank you to all parents, carers and helpers who supported our school this year with your time, money and effort. We appreciate every single one of you and we know it takes many hands to make our school such a wonderful community.

Governing Council 

Thank you to our Governing Council Members for 2024; Sam Neville, Andrew Redman-Wenham, Chelsea Mount, Ben Sanderson, Laura Kool, Emma Collingwood, Sally Woolford, Anna Forgan, Janita Bentley, Candice Doman, Chris Schneider, and retired members Declan Page and Naomi Schnuetgen. 

Thankyou also to Rob and the staff representatives on the council. Your support and input over the year has helped our school continue to run smoothly and ensure school related decisions have been thoroughly vetted before getting the seal of approval. Your time and effort this year has been invaluable to me also as your Chair.

If you are a new parent/carer to the school, or have been considering joining the council over time, please consider nominating yourself for the 2025 Council at the AGM in Week 3 next year. Nomination forms are available on the schools website, and on the P&F page. You can nominate yourself, or grab a fellow parent and nominate each other. We will have at least 8 positions open for the 2025 council, for a 2 year term. Executive positions (Chair, Deputy Chair, Secretary, Finance Committee) will also be nominated and voted upon at the AGM. Governing Council meetings runs from 6-7:30pm on Tuesday in Weeks 3 & 8 of each term and are held in the school staff room. We are seeking interested parents/careers to be on the sub committees that oversee Canteen, OSHC, Sports and Parents and friends. If you have another area in which you'd like to represent, we can create a subcommittee for this also. We are Governed by you!
